This site is an experiment and exercise in writing more than anything. An experiment in that, I’d like to see if this site can get a decent amount of traffic through content and word of mouth alone. However, as I don’t really have any ‘grand plans’ or original ideas for this site the experimentation side is really more of a curiosity.

The writing exercise is more practical, as I’ve been encouraged by several close friends to write more. So here is a means to do so.

Each post on this site is placed into a catagory. Following is a brief description of some of the catagories you’ll find here. If you don’t know what satire is, please pay close attention to the ’satire’ description…I’d prefer not to have to go through the hassle of a lawsuit by the ignorant, or humorless, unless they are truley determined to prove these qualities in a court of law.

Personal - Random musings, events in my life, or happenings. Can cover pretty much anything.

Music - Reviews of bands, concerts, and general comment about music. I make NO claim to be any kind of expert when it comes to music. I am under the belief that there is no such thing as good or bad music…all judgement lies in the ears of the listener. One man’s symphony is another’s cacophony of noise. Therefore all reviews on this site reflect my ears. Your mileage may vary.

That being said, I do have certain genres of music that I feel I know well. 70’s and 80’s rock, Stadium Rock, Early Heavy Metal (Pre 80’s), Hair Metal (Pre 90’s), Celtic Rock, and Prog rock. I’m familair but less versed in Grunge, Alt, Punk, and Glam. I know next to nothing about Country (Other than Johnny Cash rules), Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, and the various forms of ‘Nu-Metal, death metal, thrash, etc..

Tech - Reviews or comments on anything regarding technology, be it computers, robotics, consumer elctronics, advances in medicine, etc. I’m a geek at heart, and a scientist in spirit. Where as I make no expertise claim in the music catagory, I reserve no such disclamier for the tech section. My career is Information Technology, I’ve been into computers since the age of 12, and a geek since I was born. I follow science journals and technology very closly.

Satire - OK. I want to make this REALLY REALLY CLEAR. Anything posted under this section is SATIRE. That means it’s not real. It also means it’s not libel, or any kind of attack on a person’s character or the person themselves. The First Amendment fully protects satire, and trying to prove libel if you’re a public or government figure is pretty damn hard especially if the satire can get to a quality level of ’sucks’ or better. My pieces may not be ‘The Onion‘ quality, the undisputed kings right now, but I feel pretty confident they’ll pass the ’sucks’ test.

Now Satire is meant to arouse emotion, cause discussion, debate, and to make a point. So if you disagree or agree with my satire please feel free to leave comments, provided they are respectful. If you think it’s good, or it sucks, feel free to leave a comment too; If the comment is constructive. Please see the section on ‘leaving comments’ below for more details.

Astronomy - As I’ve always been a scientist in spirit I have lots of science stuff at home. My newest piece of equipment is a 10″ Newtonian reflector telescope on a Dobsonian base. I’ll have a picture of it up somewhere shortly. Since astronomy is more or less my ‘latest’ science hobby, I given astronomy it’s own section. NOTE: Since I live in Wisconsin and this is really just a hobby, don’t expect much in this section during the winter months. As much as I like my telescope and want to bag all the messier objects as soon as possible, I’m not going to be sitting out in below freezing weather to do so.

Leaving Comments - I encourage people to leave comments using the comment link after each article. I do not currently require registration or ‘approval’ for someone to leave comments. My only rule is that any comments left must be constructive and/or civil. That doesn’t mean you can’t disagree with a post or offer criticism, I simply ask you keep it constructive or keep it respectful. Comments which are disrespectful, hurtful, or personal attacks will simply be deleted. What are disrespectful comments? Any comments that invoke racism, bigotry, or ethnicity, as well as non-constructive comments such as , ‘You suck’, or ‘I hope you burn in Hell bastard’ are all good examples of non-constructive comments and will be promptly deleted. No this is not against the First Amendment. For those who failed high school, the First Amendment protects speech in regards to GOVERNMENT response. The GOVERNMENT can not censor your speech. The First Amendment makes absolutley NO protections on speech in regards to non-government (i.e. private) entities, such as this website. Based on experience, I know there will still be some people out there reading this who think this policy is a violation of free speech. Well, here is a link to the Bill of Rights, please read it, and then come back and let me know where it supports your position. If you don’t like something posted, and you can’t form a constructive argument explaining why you don’t like it, then you have two options:

1. Keep seeing your stuff get deleted, or your IP address banned.
2. Make your own site and post whatever your heart desires on it.
